Pretty Machine creates portraiture with an irreverent wink. From creative direction and photography to cinema-grade filmography and editing, we merge dreamy West Coast nostalgia with gritty East Coast polish, resulting in a style echoing the glamour of ’50s pinups and the grittiness of the ’80s punk scene.
We’re Alice and Ryan. We’re happily engaged and we love to make art.
After a 20-year career as an actress and model working with celebrity photographers like David LaChapelle, Randall Slavin, and Deborah Anderson, Alice now applies the high-quality production that shaped her work ethic to her creativity behind the camera, art-directing shoots with an uncompromising commitment to wow-factor and model comfort in mind.
Ryan was the cofounder and creative director of The Great Discontent, an internationally distributed magazine featuring hundreds of artists including Leon Bridges and Tavi Gevinson (sold in 2020). His passion for cinematography meets his penchant for stylized erotica reflecting the soul of his work: somewhere between party-candid and high-fashion editorial, with a naughty smirk.
Pretty Machine is based in Southern California.
Beautiful. Insolent. Evocative.
